Proclamation. The details and significance of each major battle
are discussed.. Major battles are Fort Sumter, Bull Run, Peninsula
Campaign, Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, Antietam, Fredericksburg,
Shiloh, Chancellersville, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Chattanooga,
the Wilderness, and the "March to the Sea."

This lesson begins with the War in the West, the Blockade of 1861,
naval battles in 1862 of the Merrimac and Monitor, the Battles
of New Orleans and Mobile Bay, covers the actions of General Grant
in the East, Sherman’s "March to the Sea," and
ends with General Lee surrendering at Appomattox.

This lesson presents a comprehensive coverage of the economic,
political, and social issues of the Reconstruction Period. It
focuses on what the war settled as well new problems the war caused.
